Laurent Koscielny says that Arsene Wenger is right man for the job at Arsenal

Defender Laurent Koscielny says that Arsene Wenger is right man for the job at Arsenal despite the recent criticism – even from the club’s supporters – in recent weeks following a poor run of games.

Arsenal face the prospect of yet another season without a trophy. The club has enjoyed back-to-back successive FA Cup, but it is now the turn of a trophy less campaign. The club went through a similar time for almost a decade before the FA Cup success largely served to protect manager Wenger at the club. Just before the victories, there were calls for Wenger to step down from his role.

Now, those calls have once again come up. Koscielny may become the last of the defenders brought to Arsenal by Wenger. The Frenchman is not keen on becoming such a historical figure. He says that Wenger has done only good for Arsenal and it is imperative that he stays on at the club to enjoy the fruits of the labour. It has been more than a decade since the club last won the Premier League medal. Just when it seemed that they would end this drought this season, the club has gone backwards once again. This time around, Wenger cannot blame the lack of transfer money for his inability to bring trophies. Continue reading “Laurent Koscielny says that Arsene Wenger is right man for the job at Arsenal”

Ospina Left Out

David Ospina has lost his place in the Arsenal line up and is spending most of his time on the bench these days, but, the boss Arsene Wenger still has got faith in him.

Wenger believes Ospina would become the first choice shot stopper at the club at some point of time.

Ospina had been used ahead of Petr Cech in Europe at the start of the season, but, one of his mistakes against Olympiacos cost Arsenal big and pushed them to the brink of elimination.

Since then, the 27-year old is out of the reckoning for the European and Premiership games and it’s Cech who is playing in both the competitions.

And, given how skilfully Cech has performed between the sticks in the recent times, he is likely to retain his position as Arsenal no. 1 in near future.

Ospina has got a couple of opportunities in the Cup, but, it seems he will have to wait for his time in the bigger competitions.

However, Wenger has no doubt that the Colombian’s time would come.

The boss was quoted as saying, “My decision to sign Cech had nothing to do with Ospina’s form.”

“It’s not that he was not meeting my expectations and that’s why I went for Cech. That was not the case at all.”

“But, you know when you have the opportunity to get somebody of the quality of Cech, it’s almost impossible for you as a manager to deny it.”

“It’s unfortunate that Ospina’s had to suffer a little bit because of that signing, but, without a shadow of doubt I can tell you that he is a fantastic goalie and surely our man for future.”

Ospina has got 18 Arsenal caps under his belt till now.
